This is a challenging yet rewarding role for a motivated and conscientious Groundsperson. The successful candidate will report to the Head Groundsperson and will be an important part of ensuring that ground conditions are at their very best, promoting Southwell Racecourse as the chosen venue for owners and trainers to compete their horses.
Under the direction of the Head Groundsperson you will carry out a maintenance programme for the course. The work entails working outside in changing and inclement weather conditions and at times can be physically demanding. This role has huge variety from preparing the course for racing to maintaining the parade ring, car parks, lawn and garden areas. This role will include preparation and reinstatement of the course.
To assist in preparing the course for racing – to include mowing, strimming, fertilising, weeding, spraying, ‘treading in’, aeration, rolling and seeding as required.
To assist with fence building and repairs plus that required to maintain the hurdles.
To assist in the upkeep of the public lawns, flowerbeds and hanging baskets.
As part of the team you will be required to assist with the irrigation programme through the summer months and before each race meeting to deliver the optimum Going for raceday.
To assist in repairing, setting out and realigning of the running rail as required by the Clerk of the Course as well as the maintenance of all external fencing, other railings and signage.
To generally assist with the delivery of site presentation including all external public and non public areas as required.
