About the role:
We’re looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. Working alongside the Head Chef, you’ll help manage the daily running of the kitchen and make sure our guests and members enjoy great food and service every time.
This is a great opportunity for a passionate chef to be part of a busy, friendly team delivering high-quality dishes. No two days are the same — from prep and race days to conferences and events, you’ll help serve everything from buffets to 5-course fine dining.
Please note- This role will involved travel to Sedgefield Racecourse to support with Racedays and Events.
Responsibilities for the successful Sous Chef include (but not limited to):
- Support the Head Chef in managing all kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and excellence in service.
- Oversee food preparation and presentation across all food and beverage outlets, ensuring compliance with food safety and current legislation.
- Ensure all food ingredients are of high quality, stored properly, and used within safety guidelines.
- Assist in menu development, incorporating guest feedback and seasonal trends.
- Maintain consistent delivery of high-quality dishes across all service periods.
- Manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef, including staff oversight and customer relations.
- Lead and motivate the kitchen team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Monitor and control kitchen costs, ensuring financial targets and gross profit margins are achieved.
- Collaborate with other departments and maintain strong interdepartmental relationships.
The person we are looking for as a Sous Chef has….
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong experience as a Senior Chef de Partie ready for the next step.
- Excellent culinary skills with a passion for food quality and presentation.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.
- Good understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices.
